With Presteigne St Andrews and Hay St Marys due to battle out the latest instalment of their ongoing saga in the FAW Trophy at Llanandras Park (already we have had one league game and a Radnorshire Cup clash and there is the promise of two more meetings to come), both clubs will be watching the league programme with interest.

There is no doubt about the Spar Mid Wales League’s top fixture of the weekend – second-placed Tywyn Bryncrug host leaders Aberystwyth Reserves knowing a win would help them reel in the early-season runaway leaders.

Of more local interest, Aberystwyth University face a ‘Radnorshire double-header’ across the weekend – they are at home to Rhayader Town on Saturday 17 October before heading to Llanandras Park on Monday 19 for a game against Presteigne.

Elsewhere, Newbridge will fancy their chances at home to Caersws Reserves while Llansantfraidd Village head to Dolgellau and Llanfyllin Town will entertain Carno.   Improving Dyffryn Banw will travel to Newtown Reserves.

In addition to Presteigne’s game against Hay, there are two other Spar Mid Wales League sides in Trophy action – Bow Street head to Llanharry while Venture Community will host Waterloo Rovers.

In the Mid Wales League (South) both of our teams are in action – Barry Williams’ Reserves will make the short trip to Radnor Valley, while CP Llanandras gear up for a basement battle at St Harmon.

There are some tasty-looking games elsewhere, too – not least in the derby game at the Racecourse where Penybont United will host the leaders Llandrindod Wells, while Rhosgoch Rangers face a trip to Rhayader Reserves.

Builth Wells will entertain Penybont Athletic while Sennybridge will head to Knighton Town.  In case you were thinking of taking in Newcastle against Talgarth Rovers, be aware this one will kick off an hour earlier than the other league matches at 1.30pm.

There are two Mid Wales League (South) Cup ties with Hay St Marys Reserves against Talgarth Town and Llandrindod Wells Colts taking on Builth Wednesdays.

There will be previews of the first team, Reserves and CP Llanandras matches on the site at some stage on Friday 16 October.
