Presteigne St Andrews players, officials and supporters were left frustrated after the side battled out a goal-less draw at home to UWA on Monday 19 October.
But, for all that, it could so easily have been worse had the Presteigne goalkeeper Trevor Gummer not saved a first-half penalty awarded after a tangle between a College player and Adie Bennett.
Trevor also made a couple of other smart saves, but Presteigne, too, had their chances with Joey Price ending a good run by firing across the face of goal, and then shooting over the bar when well placed.
Presteigne started the second half brightly but the College then got back into things, enjoying their fair share of possession. Probably the best chance of that second half fell to the home side when, after good work on the left-hand side by Joey Price, Joel Leversedge delivered an excellent cross to the far post that picked out Danny Tolley, but he saw his fierce drive come back off the crossbar.
Again, Presteigne enjoyed plenty of the ball but clear-cut chances were at something of a premium and the general view of many home-team supporters was that the students had been good value for their point.
Next up for the first team will be a trip to Caersws Reserves on Saturday 24 October.
In other news, it is reported that the Mid Wales League (South) derby game between Presteigne Reserves and CP Llanandras, also on Saturday, will now kick off at 4.00pm.
