Danny Ives netted a hat-trick as Presteigne’s Under 18s eased past Hinton with a 5-0 win in the Giantkillers Cup at Broomy Hill.
Connor Bird set Presteigne on their way when he netted early on and he was also involved in the second goal when he was tripped inside the area allowing Danny Ives to score from the resulting penalty.
It was 3-0 before the interval when Danny was again on target and Presteigne had other chances, most notably when Liam Charles fired in a shot that was initially beaten away before it fell to Jack Baker whose shot was kicked off the line.
Jack Bowen played a pivotal part in that first-half performance as manager Trevor Gummer credited him with three assists.
10 minutes after the interval Presteigne made it 4-0 when Danny Ives ran through and calmly beat the home team’s keeper.
Callum Matthews rounded off a very decent evening for the Under 18s when he maintained his recent excellent goal-scoring record by netting Presteigne’s fifth goal.
The Under 18s manager Trevor Gummer said it had been a very decent result against a previously unbeaten Hinton side:
“I am quite happy with that, although we did create a few more chances and could have won by more,” he said.
“But all in all it was a really good night and will give us something to build on,” he added.
