Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s went down 4-2 in their HFA Floodlit Youth League match at New Street on Wednesday 4 November.

Presteigne manager Trevor Gummer admitted his side had been outmuscled by a very strong Ledbury side, while the preparations for the game were hardly ideal as a couple of players got lost in Ledbury on their way to the game.

Connor Bird scored the first and last goals of the night, but the home team’s overall strength told in the final quarter of an hour in which they scored three times.

Trevor admitted it had been one of those games that he and the side would just have to put down to experience.

“It was men against boys,” he said. “They played much of the second half with four six-footers up front and we were playing up the slope in that second period, so it was a very tough night.”
