Presteigne St Andrews Under 18s had a night to forget as they produced what was arguably their poorest performance of the season in going down 5-1 at home to Llandrindod Wells at Llanandras Park.
Callum Matthews’ second-half penalty was all Presteigne had to show for their efforts on a night when Llandrindod looked half-a-yard faster for much of the game and especially so in the first half.
Two down at the interval, it was three soon afterwards before Callum was upended inside the area for what was a stonewall penalty. He put it away very calmly low to the keeper’s left-hand side to give Presteigne a chance, but Llandrindod upped their game to score two more – and they had other good chances.
A more detailed report is on the Under 18s page of the site but manager Trevor Gummer and his assistant Adam Jones will know they have to lift the side before the return fixture in Llandrindod next week.
